A guy from Ecommerce who wants to enter the SAAS space but doesn't know how to write code

I run several successful ecommerce stores, handling both the creation and marketing myself. Recently, I’ve been eager to explore passive income opportunities, and I believe SaaS could be the solution. Given my background in ecommerce, I’m considering developing some WordPress and Shopify apps. I have about $20k to invest and test the waters.

Since I’m not a developer, I’m reaching out to see if any developers experienced with WordPress or Shopify apps, or other app platforms, would be interested in partnering with me. Alternatively, I’m thinking of using freelance platforms to hire developers for these projects.
I’m feeling stuck and unsure of the best way to enter the SaaS industry. I’m also unsure if WordPress or Shopify apps would be a viable source of passive income. The concepts of MRR and ARR are particularly intriguing to me.

Shopify and WordPress offer excellent opportunities for passive income. Given your extensive experience in building ecommerce stores, you likely have a good sense of which plugins people are willing to pay for.

If you’re looking into SaaS as a way to create sellable, independent products, I recommend checking out Bubble.io. I’ve been using it along with a backend developer using Python, and with AI tools, you can quickly grasp how it works.

For your idea, try focusing on existing concepts and identify the problems and challenges users face. Then, develop your product with potential users involved in the process. It’s more challenging than it sounds.
Feel free to reach out if you need any help. I’m not charging anything just interested in connecting with others in a similar field!

Good luck!

You already work in e-commerce, and Automated Customer Support is booming at the moment, particularly for Shopify stores.

The best part is that low-code and no-code methods may be used to accomplish the majority of these tasks.
Since you are the authority on the subject, you can even test the original prototype.

Although I don’t have any expertise with WordPress or Shopify, I’m your man if you opt to try Nextjs instead of WordPress for building the website. As a developer, I would love to collaborate.

If my memory serves me correctly, the platform has a language called liquid. Shoppify also has its own dev community and can suggest an experienced shoppify developer. At one point, I considered applying to be a recommended developer. For dev talent, that’s where I would look. GL!

From a board standpoint, eXom is essentially a solved problem. However, only a person deeply involved will be aware of the chaos it causes.

An estimated one million SaaS companies can be founded for eCom.

Take size, for instance.
Size is a major problem in the fashion industry, and no one is finding a solution to the problem of “size” selection that affects both buyers and sellers.
I hope this helps you gain some perspective on the microness of the problems you can solve for eCom.

watch cursor.ai videos on YouTube.

Cursor.ai is the best option for plugins, however bubble.io or framer would work well for standalone applications.
If you don’t trust a contractor or have a referral, I would advise against utilising them. Building is highly expensive, and outsourcing gives you no negotiating power. It is preferable to learn or collaborate.

You’ve been creating WordPress websites for years. Once you’ve listed all the problems you had trying to get anything to operate with all the shady plugins, you’ll have your brilliant idea. I just learnt that WordPress will host Tumblr. WP is apparently not decreasing, hehe.
Tell me if you’d like to work in pairs on anything. Personally, I’m searching for a founder with sales experience. I’m skilled at creating and breaking things, but marketing is difficult, so I’m learning everything I can.
