First-time founder. Excited but afraid

I’m a Mexican founder passionate about programming and creating. I recently ventured into entrepreneurship, and to be honest, it’s a blend of excitement and anxiety.

I’ve always loved building things from scratch, but as I try to turn my ideas into a business, it can feel overwhelming at times. I often lose motivation and find myself reverting to building, which is what I love and know best, rather than focusing on sales or marketing. The process of attracting customers who actually sign up and pay is challenging and slow.
While I enjoy building, I recognize that the business side needs to function if I want to continue this path.
For those of you who have gone through this journey, what is one piece of advice you wish you had when starting? How did you handle the stress and uncertainty while maintaining momentum?
I’d love to connect with other founders and learn from your experiences! Thank you in advance for any advice or encouragement you can offer!
Check out my new SaaS company: processworks.io :rocket:

Hola and congratulations!

My top piece of advice is to dedicate time every day to Sales and Marketing. Prioritizing these activities before diving into any build work will help alleviate the anxiety of feeling like you need to focus on business tasks while you’re building.

Since this is a B2B product with cross-sector appeal, consider researching and answering these questions to better shape your Go-To-Market strategy:

  1. Identify some niches to test—what industries are process-driven but in need of assistance? Financial institutions and insurance companies are two sectors that clearly require significant process support.
  2. Examine large Process Mapping companies (the enterprise players that you won’t be competing against), like Nintex. Review their case studies and the industries they focus on—are there any insights you can gain?
  3. Where can potential customers be found online? Are they actively engaging and posting on LinkedIn? If so, consider joining the same groups to engage and possibly launch a paid advertising campaign. Are there any specialized industry groups online where you could test an advertising campaign?
  4. Content marketing: Discuss industry-specific challenges that process mapping can address in your blogs, offer a newsletter, or provide other valuable content for your target niches. The aim is to drive organic traffic to your site and then focus on product-led growth strategies to convert visitors.

Whoa, this is really beneficial! Many thanks for the guidance. This was initially designed for SMEs, but the more I research and speak with individuals, the more I get the impression that enterprise-level clients would be a better fit for this. I used to base my pricing on SMEs, but I’m now considering changing both the price and the target market. I’d be interested in hearing your opinions on that! Once again, thank you!

Now is an ideal time to actively engage in managed cybersecurity and compliance efforts. Begin by focusing on risk management, implementing security controls to reduce and manage your risks.
Numerous frameworks and certification programs can enhance your company’s competitiveness in the market. One widely recognized international standard is ISO 27001 (Information Security Management), which offers an international certification, while SOC 2 is particularly relevant for US-based clients and provides an attestation report.
As an ISO 27001 auditor, I’ve noticed a growing number of clients pursuing ISO 27001 certification, often driven by their customers’ demand for assurance that their information is being securely handled. The same trend applies to SOC 2 Type II for US customers.

I actually still think you stick to SMB - Enterprise is a different beast. (But landing one is great). The “M”'s of the SMB world in Financial Services though can be MASSIVE and oftentimes don’t have the internal capabilities of their Enterprise counterparts (which your product may help them with)

He is too little and too hazardous to work for financial services or any other PII regulated organization at this time. Nothing about a security audit or pen test can’t be resolved.

I understand the conflict between work related to building and business! I was really into constructing when I first started, but I quickly discovered that establishing connections was essential. I discovered that browsing LinkedIn groups was an excellent method for obtaining leads and comments. Incorporating personal narratives about your experiences or obstacles into your material can also effectively connect with readers and increase interaction. I’ve experimented with a lot of systems, but Pulse Reddit monitoring, in addition to Hootsuite and Buffer, is the most effective way for me to watch all the internet forums where my product is discussed. Wishing you well on your SaaS journey; just keep exploring and striking a balance!

Thank you for stepping out into the world of entrepreneurship! It’s acceptable to have both excitement and fear. It can be difficult to go from developing to concentrating on the business aspect, but keep in mind that striking the correct balance is essential.

Is that what your product does, then? Why would I choose this over any other free diagramming program or anything like Excalidraw?

Have you given this thought any credence? Or built a solution to an issue you think exists?
Diagrams are typically minimal or nonexistent in process documentation, at least in my corporate work. Almost always, there are just written protocols.

I’m a Mexican founder as well. Matchkraft.com was created by myself. To start with, your landing page and app look fantastic. To be completely honest, though, I don’t think that is really painful. Are businesses prepared to cover this? Although it does not resemble a typical flowchart, it appears to be somewhat close. Uncertain. But wish you the best. For sure, you should post regularly in this subreddit to show the pr
