Here’s my advice as a non-technical founder who has built multiple startups: you don’t necessarily need a technical co-founder in the early stages. While having one can be helpful, there are also benefits to going solo. You get to keep your equity, iterate at a lower cost until you achieve product-market fit, and reduce the risk of partnership disagreements that can derail your project.
When I launch a startup, I usually hire one full-stack developer and one designer. People who say you need a full team upfront have likely never built a startup themselves. Just take Jason Fried of Basecamp as an example—they operate on similar principles.
If you’re looking for a full-time engineer and designer, I have two on my team who are available, as I’m looking to scale. Yes, I’d like your business (full transparency), but I also want to save you from spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of your life searching for the “perfect” co-founder. Ship quickly and iterate along the way.
